WHAT IS CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol, one of over 120 of the chemical compounds known as cannabinoids that have been identified so far in the cannabis plant. As a result of being outlawed for so long, research into the benefits of CBD and fellow cannabinoids is still in fairly early stages (ongoing since around 1995), but what has been discovered so far is nothing short of incredible.
HOW DOES CBD WORK?
Inside our body, we have what is called an endocannabinoid system – a complex network which is involved in regulating almost all bodily processes. Amazingly, the cannabinoids produced by the cannabis/hemp plant interact with this system to encourage greater communication, balance and function.
The endocannabinoid system plays a role in many vital systems in the human body, including: appetite, hunger, and digestive systems, sleep, motor control, pain and pleasure, immune function, temperature, mood and memory.
IS IT THE SAME AS CANNABIS? WILL IT GET ME “HIGH?”
Cannabis, hemp and even marijuana are different names for what is essentially the same plant. CBD is extracted from industrial hemp, a strain of cannabis (Cannabis Sativa L.) THC is the prohibited compound found in cannabis that causes the ‘high’. CBD is a different, legal compound, which is not intoxicating. All KLORIS products are THC free.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN INGESTING CBD AND APPLYING IT TO YOUR SKIN?
CBD is quite miraculous in that it can interact with endocannabinoid receptors both in the brain and throughout the body, many of which are found in the skin and joints.
This means that you can both ingest CBD – people report this being helpful as a sleep aid, for easing anxiety and stress, and even boosting libido – or apply it to the skin – depending on what it is combined with, users report benefits for symptoms ranging from localised pain to inflammation, irritation and dryness.

Because of this, huge crops of hemp are often planted to clean up spills and ‘dirty’ land – and these are now sometimes sold to be used for mass manufactured CBD oil.
