Originally from India, SENSASIA founder Salina Handa was born and raised in Thailand, before moving to the United States at the age of 18 to study business and marketing at Boston University. A career in financial management brought her to Dubai in 1999, where she carved her niche in brand building, concept design and consumer behaviour.
But a trip to Hanoi, Vietnam, gave Salina the final push she needed to step off the corporate ladder and jump with both feet into her deep-rooted passion for pampering. Her extensive travel, scrupulous attention to detail and zero tolerance for a below par spa treatment led her to personally craft and open the doors to SENSASIA Urban Spa at The Village in Jumeirah, Dubai in 2004. A measured expansion into 4 locations, a portfolio of SENSASIA brand extensions, private projects and bespoke concepts followed, arming her with the unmatched knowledge and experience to launch THE SPA PEOPLE in 2020.
